Today after worship there is a Congregational Meeting to elect people to the Joint Needs Assessment Committee (JNAC).
Welcome Back to local Migrant Workers.
Well… the flyers have been delivered to the farms (thanks Maureen) and the great sign is out at the front of our Church (thanks Nicola and Tina) and we already have four bicycles ready for their new owners (thanks Judy and Duff’s Church) . Chris has prepared all the personal care kits thanks to donations of $10. Per kit! Donations are always welcomed. Monies donated over $20.00 can receive a tax receipt.
We will be setting up our store on Friday at 1pm. I appreciate everyone keeping their donations until then but if you are unable to help set up, you can always bring your donations to our house. 6465 Milburough Line. For the welcome back we don’t collect women’s or children’s items. Bedding and towels and pillows will be needed. Nothing goes to waste. After the party all clothing and other items are taken to Salvation Army and the Living Rock in Hamilton. There is always need.
The fun begins after 5:30 on the Saturday, June 25. We need help with everything. Put on your name tag and put a smile on your face and ask how you can help…personal shoppers, set up for the dinner hopefully outside. Help is always needed in the kitchen. Even though we are serving chicken and, hamburgs we need salads, main dishes that feed a crowd and of course desserts. Nothing goes to waste. We already have the foam containers for our guests to take home a snack for the next day.
Our special entertainment begins at 8pm. for our guests. We are thrilled to have the Hamilton Youth Steel Orchestra perform for us. We will see what evening weather comes but we will have packed away our store just in case we are entertained in the sanctuary. It wouldn’t be the first time we have had a conga line up and down the aisles.
Hopefully, I have covered the main points of this very special evening. We are blessed to have so many wonderful people such as yourself who want to get involved with helping our friends from away year after year.
