Living Mindfully. Mindfulness Meditation and connecting with our lives on
Thursdays at 3:00-4:30pmpm beginning March 9  to April 13. Led by Rev. Lorna.

Living Mindfully:  Connecting to Ourselves through Mindfulness Meditation:

Learning to live in deeper connection with our body, mind and spirit, our everyday lives and those around us

In learning to “live mindfully” we will be practicing ‘being’ and connecting to our own lives.

We spend a lot of time with our minds busy in the past or future and sometimes miss out on the present moments of our days.  That moment is all we have; the past is gone, the future is not yet here.

In learning to ‘live mindfully’ we begin to pay attention to our stress and how we sometimes are triggered to react to things.  We can begin to choose how to respond in our days rather than live reactively.

We learn a practice of meditation that can enable us to cope differently with life and find the moments of joy that sometimes we miss in our mental and physical business.

By learning to allow ourselves to be in the moment with things as they are and without trying to change anything we allow ourselves to be present to ourselves and to God in the place of both powerlessness and power.

A significant source of the material we will use is Kabat-Zinn.  Full Catastrophe Living: Using the Wisdom of Your body and Mind to face Stress, Pain and Illness: New York: Delta, 1990. Participants are NOT expected to purchase this book.  You may wish to purchase it, or not, after the program.

Seniors Christmas Lunch on Tuesday December 13. Musical prelude at 11:30am followed by the Christmas meal.

We need helpers for December 20 to join us at the Wesley Christmas Store.  If you are not able to attend perhaps you could ask family members or students needing those much needed volunteer hours.  You will not be disappointed.  If you are looking for the real reason we celebrate Christmas, you will find it on December 20 at the Wesley store when we arrive to fill the empty shelves with groceries and gifts.  Blessings to you and your family ahead of time for all you are doing to support this miracle on the 20th.  So far we have only FOUR volunteers coming on the 20th.  Sharon Banks…905 689 8638
